This Privacy Policy applies to the Diction mobile application ("App") developed by Fikr-e-Fanoos (Private) Limited ("we", "our", or "us"). By using the App, you agree to the practices described in this policy.

2. Information We Collect

Diction does not require you to create an account or provide any personal information such as your name, email address, or phone number. The App uses anonymous authentication — you are assigned a random, non-identifiable user ID when you first open the app.

We collect the following data automatically:

• Usage data — which features you use, how often you open the app, and general interaction patterns (via Firebase Analytics)
• Crash reports — technical information about app errors to help us fix bugs (via Firebase Crashlytics)
• Performance data — app startup time, screen load times, and network request performance (via Firebase Performance Monitoring)
• Learning data — your vocabulary progress, tagged words, quiz results, and spaced repetition history, stored locally on your device and synced to our secure backend to enable features like the leaderboard and personalized word of the day

3. How We Use Your Data

• To personalize your vocabulary learning experience
• To power features like spaced repetition, Word of the Day, and the leaderboard
• To diagnose and fix technical issues
• To understand how users interact with the App so we can improve it

We do not use your data for advertising. We do not sell your data to third parties.

4. Third-Party Services

Diction uses the following third-party services, each with their own privacy practices:

• Firebase (Google) — Analytics, Crashlytics, and Performance Monitoring. Google Privacy Policy

5. Data Storage & Security

Your learning data is stored locally on your device using SQLite and synced to our backend (Supabase) over encrypted connections. We apply industry-standard security measures to protect your data. However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure.

6. Children's Privacy

Diction is intended for users aged 13 and above. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with data, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

7. Data Retention

Your anonymous user data is retained for as long as you use the App. Since there is no account to delete, you can clear your local app data at any time through your device settings. To request deletion of your synced backend data, contact us at the address below.

8. Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Request access to the data associated with your anonymous user ID
• Request deletion of your data from our backend
• Opt out of Firebase Analytics by disabling app permissions on your device

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes through the App. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
